Not Just A Handyman

The Next Generation Of Skilled Trades

Not Just A Handyman is handyman enterprise project designed open doors for young people across Chatham-Kent. Our goal is to empower young people not only through flexible training and employment opportunities, but by also creating a sense of being part of team that cares about each other.

This project is still under development. Please contact William Laurie (contact information below) if you are interested in registering.

Flexible Training

Take your curiosity of the trades to the next level, and build your skills through hands on projects – and, get a pro tool kit to start hammering down those skills.

Here’s what we offer:

  • Paid introductory trainings in wood and metal workings, as well as tool use and safety
  • Financial, business, and digital essential skills training
  • Monthly skill development workshops with education and business partners
  • Opportunities to network with mentors, community partners, and local businesses, and
  • Supporting to transition to apprenticeship, further employment, and post-secondary education in the skilled trades

Not Just A Handyman

Take your skills to the next level through our social enterprise, Not Just A Handyman, where you can work as a contract handyperson for customers across Chatham-Kent. Jobs range from refurbishing furniture or replacing a door to landscaping and fixing a deck. You’ll be supported by our staff team in the field and eventually take on bigger jobs by yourself, building your resume and your confidence.
